Crocodile on the Sandbank
Crocodile on the Sandbank by Elizabeth Peters

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I do love Amelia Peabody (Emerson) more than almost any other character. She is hilariously unreliable, steadfastly British, and filled with a passion for life that I both empathize with and want to emulate. These books are so much fun and I’m so glad to be revisiting them!

Sorcerer's Heir
Sorcerer’s Heir by M.D. Benoit

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I enjoyed this book from start to finish–in fact, had I not been reading it at such a busy time of year, I would have finished it much more quickly! I liked the fact that the main character, although being a bit acerbic, makes you root for her success from the outset. I also enjoyed the author’s take on magic, and discrimination even within the community of magic-users. The action is fast-paced and there are many twists and turns in the plot, but not at the expense of interesting characters. Definitely recommended!
